MONTGOMERY – Business confidence remains robust in the River Region as the Montgomery metro area scored an Alabama Business Confidence Index (ABCI) reading of 59.4 for the first quarter of 2015 – a 0.7 point increase from the previous quarter. Business confidence in Montgomery again ranks highest of any city in the state – as it has the past 14 out of 18 quarters.
“Perennially, Montgomery has ranked number one in the state,” Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange said. “This tells us that people in Montgomery have a high degree of confidence in the future of our community and the good things that are happening. People are more confident about business in the River Region, and that fact could lead to greater investment, job creation and expansion of current businesses’ operations in our community.”
ABCI for the entire state ranked 57.4 on the first quarter survey – a 6.2 point increase from last year, according to The University of Alabama Center for Business and Economic Research report, which is the highest level since 2006. The report indexes in Montgomery are highest for hiring, profits and the state’s economy, while sales index ranked second highest for metro areas.
